Bio
Tarka Kings was born in London in 1961 where she still lives and works. She is a graduate of the R.A. schools.

In 2008 she gave up painting from life and focused on working in graphite and coloured pencil; creating highly detailed drawings, using a variety of dense and patterned repetitive marks, sometimes interspersed with text.

This laborious and contemplative approach shares something in common with the work of Vija Celmins and Agnes Martin. The work also looks to Seurat.

In 2013 Kings started drawing directly onto the wall; recently completing commissions at Chatsworth and the Kapoor house in London.

Tarka Kings’ work has been shown by Nigel Greenwood, Ingleby gallery and Faggionato gallery. Her work is held in many private collections including Paul Allen, the Duke of Devonshire, Maggie’s Centre and the Rothschild family collection.
